A background on the Westwood Hills neighborhood:

Located in the shadows of the UCLA campus, Westwood Hills is a charming neighborhood nestled between Bel Air and Holmby Hills.  Westwood Hills is surrounded by some of Los Angeles’ most notable streets and landmarks, bordered on the East by Sepulveda Boulevard and the Veteran’s cemetery, to the West by Veteran Avenue, and to the North by Sunset Boulevard.  Westwood Hills falls within the LAUSD Los Angeles Unified School District with Warner Avenue Elementary, Fairburn Avenue Elementary and Ralph Waldo Emerson Middle Schools surrounding the area.

Westwood was developed on the lands of the historic Wolfskill Ranch, purchased by business owner Arthur Letts.  Upon Arthur’s passing, his son and the Janss Investment Company inherited the land and began marketing and developing it for new construction single family residences.

The neighborhood was first established in 1919, shortly before Westwood Village was opened by the Janss Family for retail purposes in 1926.  Westwood grew to be a hotspot for the Hollywood scene, with an endless number of movie premiers and paparazzi roaming the streets.  With a spotlight shining on the city, and a rapidly growing film industry, Westwood Village became the stomping grounds for many notable entertainers.

As time progressed and UCLA began to grow as a university, the residents of Westwood Hills began to diversify.  Producers, movie stars and notable professors began flocking to Westwood Hills due to the neighborhood’s privacy and more favorable cost to the surrounding areas of Bel Air, Beverly Hills and Brentwood.  Westwood Hills offered a more affordable opportunity to enjoy life in a prime area of Los Angeles with a wide variety of architectural styles from Spanish to Modern.  It’s a very beautiful area full of charm and character.
